North East Castles

There are a number of historic and beautiful castles and country homes in the North East of Scotland. 

Castles that can be reached by public transport are below:

  1. Crathes Castle, by Banchory
    Stagecoach Bluebird bus numbers 201 from Aberdeen bus station stop at the entrance to Crathes Estate.
  2. Drum Castle, by Banchory
    Stagecoach Bluebird bus numbers 201 from Aberdeen bus station stop within walking distance (1/2 mile) of Drum Castle.
    Note: There is a steep walk from the Drum Castle bus stop on the A93 up to the property.
  3. Duff House (art gallery), Banff
    Stagecoach Bluebird bus number 35 from Aberdeen bus station stops in Banff.
  4. Dunnottar Castle, Stonehaven
    By train: from Aberdeen to Stonehaven
    By bus: Stagecoach Bluebird X7 to Stonehaven
    Castle is one hour walk from town centre, along stunning coastal path.
  5. Fyvie Castle, Fyvie, near Turriff
    Stagecoach Bluebird bus number 35 from Aberdeen bus station stops in Fyvie.
