We want to make sure you know the full range of support services available to you during this challenging time. Each of our services are here to help and support you, so please do not hesitate to get in touch with our helpful teams who are ready and waiting to hear from you.

Accommodation Services & ResLife

Our halls of residence remain open, and the ResLife team are working hard ensure that there are lots of online activities for students to get involved in. Study sessions, quizzes, virtual movie nights and even a Facebook Live drop-in each day with the team are available to all students. Keep up to date with what’s on through the ResLife Facebook Group.

Living in halls and require urgent help? Our QMU Security team are on duty 24/7 keeping you safe. You can contact them by calling 0131 474 0000 and asking for Security, or via one of the intercom points across campus.    


The Helpdesk team continue to be your one-stop shop for reporting any faults or problems with Accommodation, Facilities, IT and Library Services. To log a job with the team, please drop them an email to and they will be happy to help.

Careers and Employability

You can use Student Central to view current vacancies, book online appointments and access resources. 

Immediate recruitment opportunities are advertised on the HUB. Due to the current popularity of healthcare and supermarket jobs, many vacancies are only live for a few hours. Make sure that you have everything ready so you don’t miss out, including an up to date CV and/or an application form to apply.

Our Employer and Enterprise Mentoring Programme is still happening remotely. Although some mentors and students may have paused, it is anticipated that this resource will be even more important for you in a very competitive market once the Covid-19 crisis is over. Counselling Service

Our Counselling Service is still open and you can continue to attend telephone drop-in sessions, visit Student Central and the counselling webpage for more information. Sessions can be used to start talking about what’s going on for you, strategies and ways forward.

Disability Service 

You can book an online appointment during working hours with a Disability Adviser or for Assistive Technology Training, by audio or video at Disability Service – Student Central

Effective Learning Service

You can still book appointments with The Effective Learning Service on Student Central. The appointments take the form of email advice and guidance on writing assignments and developing academic skills, and discussion via email of any queries arising from this feedback. Click here to book a slot.

Finance Office

Our Finance Office supports any students paying for tuition and accommodation fees. If you experience any difficulties with payments then please contact the team at

International Student Support 

Online drop in sessions are taking place daily, from Monday to Friday. If you are an exchange student, or an international student, joining instructions and timings of these sessions will have been sent to your QMU student email.  These details will also be published on our QMU International Facebook page. Please also know that you can reach out to our friendly International team at with any questions.

School Office and Registry

Our School Office and Registry staff continue to be on hand via email to answer your queries. Please contact the School Office at for queries relating to extenuating circumstances, assessment, feedback and module results.

You can also email our Registry staff at for queries about tuition fees, Graduation and Boards of Examiners decisions. 

Student Funding Advice

Our Student Funding Adviser is available to answer questions that you may have regarding your current financial situation. In the first instance email Student Funding at for help and support.

We also offer 15 minute phone appointments available on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday each week at 2pm, 2:15pm, 2:30pm and 2:45pm through Microsoft Teams. Just make an appointment through Student Central and follow the instructions.

Students’ Union (HelpZone) 

Your Students’ Union (SU) provides independent and confidential support. The SU team remains available for general student queries and for support with academic related issues. The Help Zone specialises in supporting academic related issues, including Extenuating Circumstances, Academic Appeals, Complaints, Disciplinary processes and Fitness to Practice. Whilst SU may not be able to provide you with hard copy documentation at this time, they will make every effort to provide you with an alternative version by email.


For all level one students, and students at other levels on selected programmes, QMU has partnered with Studiosity, an external online service accessed via the Hub, to provide 24/7 constructive feedback on key elements of academic writing. Studiosity will review your draft work and give you quick feedback about how to improve your academic writing style. Uptake on the service has been growing over the last couple of weeks, and we would encourage you to use the service if you feel it would be of benefit you. 

Wellbeing Service
