Getting Around Edinburgh
Now you're starting to settle in, I bet you can't wait to explore all the sites of Edinburgh! So we want to share some student friendly tips on getting around and about the city...
- Cycling
Despite the cobbled streets, Cycling is a popular way to get around Edinburgh. Cycling is not only FREE but cyclists are allowed to share the green buses lanes in the city centre. ScotRail now also have bike racks on their trains if you don't fancy the cycle there and back! - Buses
If you work in the city centre or just love exploring the quirky streets then the Student Ridacard is made for you! From as little as £15 per week, it gives you unlimited travel on Lothian Buses, Airlink, NightBus and Edinburgh trams. See the Lothian Buses website for more information.
Tip: Download the Lothian Buses FREE app to get all the latest bus times and travel information - Trains
Musselburgh has a direct link to Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket train station. If you're aged 16-25 or 25+ and studying full time you are eligible for a 16-25 rail card which gives you a 1/3 off your rail fare and is just £30 for the whole year! See the 16-25 railcard website for information.
Enjoy your travelling!
