Get money smart - Financial Capability Module

By JForrester 12 Nov 2020

What it is

Each workshop will cover different topics and provide you with essential money skills to get you confident about your finances, for now and in the future. We provide a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, where you can learn, benefit from input from external speakers (experts in their field) and meet other students.

The Financial Capability module, delivered by the Student Money Service’s trained practitioners is part of UWE Bristol Futures Award and all UWE Bristol students are welcome to attend. The workshops are themed weekly and is delivered twice a year - in the autumn and spring terms.

This year, the module will be delivered online for the first time. We will be running a total of three workshops – two main ones and then a final mop-up where students will have the chance to undertake their own learning and utilise UWE Bristol’s money related resources./p>

How it works

Each workshop will cover different topics and provide you with essential money skills to get you confident about your finances, for now and in the future. We provide a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, where you can learn, benefit from input from external speakers (experts in their field) and meet other students.

We are pleased to confirm that we have an external industry expert speaking from the finance services company, Hargreaves Lansdown, as well as housing experts from the Students Union, TV Licensing specialist and UWE Bristol's Student Money experts.

This year, the module will be delivered online for the first time. We will be running a total of three workshops – two main ones and then an optional final session where students can return and ask any questions about the previous 2 workshops.

Students will be asked to complete some short online learning too. Students who complete this learning will be entered into a competition to win Amazon vouchers.
