Connected Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) Trial

By UWEaccomm 29 Sep 2018

Where? Residential Courts on UWE Campus

When? 8th October (Monday) – 23rd November (Friday)

What? UWE is one of the leading UK Universities to research and help develop ‘driverless cars’. Flourish is one of our flagship projects investigating how to make autonomous vehicles better for older people as well as others with mobility difficulties.  The trial will be running on weekdays around the Student Accommodation Blocks (Brecon, Cotswold, Mendip and Quantock courts, R block and Centre for Sports.). A pod will be travelling at a walking pace on the predefined route with safety marshals supervising the area and people safety.

What should You do if You see the Pod? If you spot the Pod on its route, please act normally. You might get asked by our marshals to let the Pod pass before crossing its trail. The wait should be minimal (maximum of 5 min), and we do not anticipate any significant disturbance to your work routine.  The Pod can stop and operate like a normal vehicle.

We are grateful for your patience and support in running the trial – helping UWE make a better future.
