9 Things to do before you move to uni

By ESussex 24 Jul 2019

Here are a few things you should do before going to university:

See your friends

Whether you go for dinner or drinks, you should always have a final meeting with your friends before you go to uni, as it's possible you wont see them until Christmas.

Say goodbye to family & pets

Saying goodbye to your family is important, and for most of us, saying goodbye to your pets is always harder... You will miss them so make the most of the time you have left before you go!

Check your accommodation

Before you leave, you should check when you can move into your new halls. This will allow you to plan your move and you will know when you have to be ready by. You don't want to arrive and your house not be ready yet...

Arrange travel

Sort out how you are going to get to your new halls, and how you will get all of your stuff there. If you are getting a bus or train it is a good idea to book tickets ASAP.

Get your finances in order

Okay so there are a few things you need to do with regards to money:

  1. Open a student bank account
  2. Make sure you have applied for student finance
  3. Create a budget

Get packed

Packing always takes longer than you expect, so get started soon! Once you have packed everything you want to take to uni, it's a good idea to look at everything you have left behind and see if you should sell on depop/give to charity. Remember, if you haven't used/worn something in a while, it's probably best to not take it to uni and to consider getting rid of it.
