Afternoon Tea with a twist...

By bzbeth 07 Aug 2017

What's not to love about Afternoon Tea? It's sophisticated, elegant and you can totally pig out without feeling guilty!

But what if you're a student and can't afford the fancy day out? Not to worry, you can still host the perfect tea party at home.

FOR THE GIRLS

Got a group of friends coming over? Maybe your girlfriend loves Afternoon Tea? Take inspo from Betty's and fill a cake stand (for one that won't break the bank, try Ikea or Wilkos) with a selection of pink cupcakes. Definitely smoked salmon sandwiches without the crusts for the professional touch! After the tea, open the prosecco and strawberries...

FOR THE GUYS

Yes, guys can enjoy Afternoon Tea too! Take inspiration from Gentleman's tea rooms all over the country - serve sausage rolls, pork pies, scotch eggs and beef and horseradish sandwiches. And if the menu doesn't scream enough masculinity, then wash it all down with a range of continental beers!

FOR THE PARENTS

Making something for The Rents means it's got to be right! You need a teapot (think Cath Kidston) and the best tea you can find. Go all out with the decorations - put up some bunting and get a fancy tablecloth. Have a go at making your own scones and whatever you do, don't forget the jam and cream!

Afternoon Tea Week starts on 7th August, so make sure you take the time to appreciate this amazing British creation.
