Applying for jobs

By bzellie 21 May 2019

It all seems overwhelming whether it's a summer job or your first full-time role, you'll have to fill in numerous application forms along your career journey. Read our tips for some inspiration:

Where do you want to work?
A job close to the beach would obviously be a lovely setting for the summer. Long term, think of which area you'd like to work in in the future.

Passion perfection
What makes you tick: if you do something that you're passionate about - you’re more likely to enjoy it.

Tutor Talks
There's no harm in asking for guidance, what have you got to lose?
Practically speaking - where is the job-based? Do you have the correct skillset? Do you have the correct qualifications? These are considerations when job hunting.

Dip your feet in the SEA
At the Swansea Employability Academy, there are careers advisers who can listen to your career plan and help advise you on the best way to make it happen, contact them on: employability@swansea.ac.uk

A pathway sometimes requires patience
If you feel like you can't see the woods from the trees on this one- there's no rush. Take time out to assess your options, patience is a virtue.

Question and believe
Question your thoughts, talk through it for a second opinion, trust your instincts and believe in yourself.

We're not saying it will be easy, and on occasions when applying for jobs you may need a thick skin, especially as you start out on your career. However, with some careful planning and preparation, you can do it!
