Every year, tonnes of waste gets left on Sheffield's streets, most of which could be reused, recycled or donated. When you move out this summer, it's easy to do it the right way!
You can donate items to the British Heart Foundation. Clothes, shoes, handbags, accessories, clean kitchenware, CDs, DVDs and small electrical items can all be placed in the official BHF donation bags and donated at British Heart Foundation collection points across the city. But no duvets please!
Food can be donated too! You can donate unused, unopened and non-perishable food to us and we'll distribute it to charities across Sheffield. We collected over 3 tonnes of food last year!
Kitchenware - pots, pans, plates, glasses and mugs - do you need all these for next year, or can you share with your housemates? Donate everything you can & save space when you move.
Recycling - remember to use your blue bins and boxes to recycle as much as possible. Put plastic bottles, tin cans & glass in one bin. Put paper and card in the other.
Anything that you can't reuse, recycle or donate can be placed in one of the council's red sacks. Anything in these will be incinerated, so only use these as a last resort! Fill these and place them outside your house between 12 - 30 June.
Please see our website for further information of collection points and pickups. You can collect extra sacks from The HUBS, SHU Accommodation Services or our Students' Union office at HOTC (Collegiate campus) from the 12 June 2017.
