Breaking News - Reports of Theft

By JordanBrowzer 07 Mar 2018

Breaking News

We have recently been made aware of reports on social media stating that students are being targeted by criminals in the area close to Waitrose on St Mary's Gate and the surrounding underpasses.

We are currently working closely with colleagues at South Yorkshire Police both to verify these reports, and to take appropriate action with SYP Neighbourhood Policing Teams.

As always, we remind students to remain vigilant in and around the local community, to avoid walking alone where possible and to stick to well-lit, main routes when travelling. More advice and information on your safety is available on the Students' Union website.

On Friday 9th March, the Students' Union are offering a free women's self-defence class as part of the International Women's Day programme - please book online to take part.

Please report any suspicious activity to South Yorkshire Police by calling 999 in an emergency, 101 for non-emergencies, and also to the SHU Security Team on 0114 2252000 so that we can ensure appropriate measures are in place. You can also report non-emergency crimes online via the South Yorkshire Police website.

If you have any comments or concerns, please contact your Welfare and Community Officer, Mohammed Abdulrehda.
