Your guide to Edinburgh Fringe 2018

By Megan 17 Jul 2018

For three weeks in August the Edinburgh Festival Fringe opens the doors, streets and alleyways of an entire city to an explosion of creative energy from around the globe.

Keep the dates Friday 3rd - Monday 27th August free in your diary...there is lots of things you really don't want to miss!

From big names in the world of entertainment to unknown artists looking to build their careers, the festival caters for everyone and includes theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children's shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events.

2017 saw 53,232 performances of 3,398 shows in 300 venues across Scotland’s capital city. It's a sprawling, anarchic, sleepless month of live performances so it looks like Fringe 2018 is set to be a cracker!

First of all, visit the Edinburgh Fringe website and download the 2018 Fringe Programme - it tells you everything you need to know and more importantly, plans your exciting Fringe experience.

Don't miss out on the Half Price Hut - located on the Mound Precinct and is a great place to grab a bargain with thousands of half price tickets available. Check out the opening times here.

Of course, there are many FREE shows happening at the Fringe, so don't miss out on an absolute bargain.

Set your watch accurately - Lots of shows won't admit latecomers, so make sure you're there before the start!  And remember "Fringe Time"; days run from 5am to 4:59am, so a show listed as 1am on Friday night is actually in the early hours of Saturday morning. Make sure your tickets are for the right show on the right day. Get familiar with Edinburgh and the locations of shows (pick up a map from all Fringe box offices or online) - allow yourself enough time to get from one place to the other.

Stay connected on Social Media - Whether you’re a seasoned Fringe veteran or interested in visiting for the first time, keep connected to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe by signing up to email bulletins through our social media channels.
