UK CV Workshop with Reslife & Mediargh
Moving to the UK to live and study is hard enough.
Everyone seems to apologise a lot, an invitation to "tea" turns out to be a four-course meal, and the Scottish accent, as lovely as it is, sounds nothing like what you've heard on 90% of TV (are they asking for a pen, or a pin?...).
Things don't get easier if you're also trying to get a part-time job.
Not only is the student jobs market competitive with three other universities in Edinburgh, AND there's only so much professional experience you can show by the time you hit your undergrad course... The application process, conventions, and vocabulary are pretty different, too.
If all this sounds like a familiar Catch-22, come along to the ResLife Accommodations Lounge on 18 October at 6pm where Agata, your ResLife Assistant, the current owner of Mediargh, and resident foreigner herself, will talk you through some of the most common CV problems UK newcomers face. This informal workshop will include a quick guide to translating your work experience to the British jobs market, useful vocabulary and general application tips for new arrivals and locals alike.
