VOLUNTEER!
Thinking of a career working with young people ?
Why not volunteer for LEAPS and gain valuable experience?

What is LEAPS?

LEAPS promote Higher Education while supporting young people in secondary schools in South East Scotland.

Our work includes school and campus-based events from November to March.  As a LEAPS Volunteer you will play a vital role, working with small groups of pupils in structured workshops led by LEAPS staff.

Opportunity to Volunteer in Local Schools:
  • Volunteering for LEAPS gives you the opportunity to participate in workshops and events on campus and in local schools.
  • The schools we work with are in Edinburgh and the Lothians, the Scottish Borders and the Stirling area.
  • Workshops are led by LEAPS staff but students from local universities play a key role, working with small groups of pupils.
  • You decide how much time you commit to LEAPS volunteering – you can fit it in around studies and other commitments.
  • Looks great on your CV and is very helpful for those wanting to pursue a career in teaching or working with young people

To Take Part You Must:

  • Be a current student in 2nd year or above at university (postgraduate, international and mature students all welcome)
  • Have the ability to relate to pupils of secondary school age (14-18 year olds)
  • Have enthusiasm for the 'student experience' (and willing to share this with others) and have good communication skills
