Lockdown Stories....Sarah

I hope you are all well and getting used to the new way of living. I can’t quite believe how quickly time is going even with being stuck in the house for most of the day! Just trying to keep track of what day it is has become a bit of a challenge!

I have so far spent most of my time battling to get to grips of the various versions of software and technology that are allowing us to work from home. I’m using several systems that I hadn’t even heard of 3 weeks ago – Zoom, Collaborate, Teams to name but a few. I don’t think I’m doing too badly considering that I have managed to avoid all of these things until now – I think I’m about the only person who doesn’t have a Facebook account! I must admit that the majority of systems have been much easier to use than I had expected and embracing the technology has also really helped me to keep in touch with family and friends. So, if you are a bit of a technophobe like me, I would encourage you to give it a go, as it’s not as bad as you may think!

My biggest achievement so far has definitely been setting up the QMU Mywellness App (with a lot of help and patience from our friends at Technogym). Thank you to everyone who has downloaded the App and I hope you are enjoying using it. Personally, I have been using the App to inspire me and I try to complete the daily workouts. The workouts give a good variety of exercises that can all be done in the living room without the need for any equipment. Judging by how sore my body is from exercising on a daily basis, the App definitely works!

I also go out for a walk each day, using the Mywellness App to keep track of what I have done. I’m really enjoying it, especially now that the weather is a bit brighter and warmer (at time of writing !!). I’m very fortunate to have some great routes nearby to my house including along the Water of Leith, the Union Canal, the Pentland hills and the less well known Donkey Lane.

Away from work and exercise, I have had grand plans to have a good clear out of the house and sort out the garden, however Netflix has a habit of distracting me! I’ve only managed to clear out about 4 kitchen cupboards so far and the lawnmower has yet to make an appearance! There’s always next week…

I’m really missing the buzz of the Centre and I’m looking forward to catching up with you all when everything returns to normal.
