LGBTQ+ History Month at ResLife
February is LGBTQ+ history month, and 2020 marks nearly 20 years since the Section 28 legislation banning the "promotion" of homosexuality by local authorities and schools was repealed in Scotland.
We're marking the month at ResLife by promoting queer culture as much as we can with a series of weekly screenings - with a special V Day Netflix and Domino's, too!

MON 3RD FEB, 7PM - Paris is Burning. The obligatory position on any queer film list, and the source of so much slang we use today! A 90s documentary exploring the underground ballroom culture of New York City.
FRI 14th FEB, 7PM - Victor / Victoria. The perfect, light-hearted way to mark VDay. Musical comedy starring Julie Andrews playing a woman pretending to be a man pretending to be a woman...
THU 20TH FEB, 7PM - I Am Divine. If you know anything about the art of drag, chances are you've seen the icon Divine referenced to this day. Take a look at the person behind the makeup and controversy, with a glimpse into the alternative culture of Baltimore in the 70s.
FRI 28TH FEB, 7PM - Fantastic Woman. A 2017 Chilean drama giving us the kind of trans representation we need. Moving and empowering!
