On Sunday it was thanks giving in Canada.
My new friend Alexandra is from Canada. I met her during fresher's week and she is also an exchange student in some of my classes. We have been hanging out quite a lot and I know how much thanks giving means to her and other Canadians. With her being miles away from her family, I thought it would be a good idea to make her dinner, and have a gathering to make her day special.
Well I mean Becky and Jo made dinner haha!
The rest of us just prepared the vegetables! I was working form 9am-5pm and was so hungry after. We ended up eating around 7:30pm and I must say, I am pleased I didn't take part in the actual cooking as it would not have tasted so good! The food was delicious.
After dinner we kept with tradition and participated in a thanks giving speech. We all said what we were thankful for. It was nice to experience my friends culture and make her feel at home. We couldn't find pumpkin pie so we are going to try and make up for it at Halloween. So instead, we had Apple pie and it was delicious!!
We all had wine with our dinner and had a few drinks afterwards. Ally got her family on Skype to wish them a happy thanks giving and I got to say hello too!
It was a great night and most of all Ally enjoyed it.
What do you think of our meal?! If you fancy trying out some Canadian dishes, here is a good link to their most famous foods!
