Great Summer Cook Off

Whilst the rest of the world was enjoying the beautiful Scottish Summer, our Chef's and a number of the QMU students have been hard at work here in 1875 and across Campus.

We started our summer off with a Big Bang saying farewell to our students and welcoming in a whole new aspect to our business.

Our Conference business boomed, serving over 2000 meals to a variety of guests - our youngest guest being only 2 weeks old, to our oldest of 95 years young, which she was proud to share with us.

We helped say farewell to our 2019 graduates with 2500 glasses of bubbly and over 5400 canap├ęs served. In between this, our chefs prepared a fantastic three course meal to celebrate our former Principal's time at the University. To top the evening off, our Chef's were delighted to welcome Prue Leith into the kitchen, as she had attended both the Reception and the dinner. After a wee bit of banter, she complimented our Chefs on their beautiful meal and went back to enjoying her evening. A welcome treat for the team following a hard day in the office!

Summer School, was as always, a busy affair, with young adults from around the world coming to stay on campus and learn both English and more about the Scottish Culture. All in, our team of 5 dedicated Chef's and our Summer School team delivered over 30 000 meals, with smiles on the their faces (most of the time!).

Transitioning seamlessly into our annual B&B business, we transformed part of our 1875 seating into a B&B restaurant, looking after visitors from near and far, coming to Edinburgh to experience all that the Fringe Festival has to offer. The need for a quick Grumpy Mule coffee to kick start their day from Maggie's was real with these guests, and an ice cold pint to finish off a long day on the streets of Edinburgh!

After a long summer, we are all delighted to welcome our students back - both old and new, and look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
