Spotlight on... Manchester Met Halls
We caught up with Ashleigh to find out about her experience in halls of residence at Manchester Metropolitan.
How long have you been at Manchester Met?
I have been here for four years. I started with a foundation year and then progressed onto a full-time three-year course the following year.
I commuted in my foundation year (which was really time-consuming and expensive) and made the decision to move into Halls of Residence, which really was the best decision I made.
What is your favourite thing about living in halls?
The community and excitement of Student Living. I have made a bunch of new and life-long friends, all of which have really enhanced my student experience.
We go to lots of events in our halls, such as quiz nights, pizza nights and chill-out events. The best part about the events in halls is that they are all free and just downstairs near reception.
Can you tell us an interesting fact about halls of residence?
This is something I wish I knew sooner because it would have saved so much stress. If you do not get the grades to be accepted into Manchester Met in the first instance and you have already booked a room in accommodation, you can get all of your money back!
What is your advice to incoming students?
If you haven’t done so already, book your room now! You really don’t want to leave this until the last minute and not get the room you want (you will live here for a whole year, so it’s best to get booking).
I would also advise every student to participate in the events and social activities. University isn’t just about studying and completing assignments; it is important to relax, socialise and immerse yourself in everything that Manchester Met and your Halls has to offer.
Why stay in Manchester Met accommodation?
The beauty of living in Manchester Met halls is that everything is included in the price (bills, Wi-Fi and insurance), you will receive support from Residential Life (including Residential Advisors) and some halls even offer extra perks and advantages such as:
Applications for Manchester Met accommodation are still open and we have a range of locations available.
