Sport and physical activity are an important part of University life at MMU.

There are free activities put on across campus every week, over 60 student-led sports clubs and fantastic on-site sports facilities!

Platt Lane Sports Complex

Home to sports clubs including football, rugby union and American football, this facility offers top quality pitches, along with a fully equipped gym, fitness classes and a number of coaching sessions to suit all ages.

Sugden Sports Centre

If you fancy fitting in an exercise session between lectures or in the evening or, are up for a fun activity with your friends, then head to Sugden Sports Centre. The centre has 2 sports halls used for a range of activities, along with a fitness suite and workout classes!

Manchester Aquatics Centre

Purpose built for the Commonwealth games back in 2002, the Manchester Aquatic Centre is now a community facility featuring 3 top quality gyms, a 50m swimming pool and a health suite! In 2015 it undertook a refurbishment that included a brand new free weights gym and an extension doubling the 'Strength Space' gym.

What's on offer?

  • 50m Swimming pool (sometimes split into 2x25m pools)
  • Diving pool
  • Extensive fitness class programme
  • Brand new health suite with sauna and steam room facilities
