Managing workload and balancing your priorities

By vanessara 04 Mar 2017

Now that we are mid-way through the second term, you will find that there are more and more uni tasks expected of you. These could be assignments, presentations, coursework and assessments, balancing this heavy workload with other activities outside of study can be difficult.

Here are some tips keep you on top of your workload and priorities as a student:

1. TIMETABLING

Making yourself a timetable can make a big difference as it gives you clear aims and reminds you which tasks to prioritise. Planning this can mean that social activities can work round your working timetable.

2. TAKE YOURSELF AWAY FROM DISTRACTIONS

It can also help to take yourself to the library; perhaps the silent areas, where you know you can't be distracted.

3. WORK HARD, PLAY HARD

Try to prioritise your workload by balancing work and fun time. Even 1 or 2 hours everyday on one assignment can result in completing a large chunk of work. This will help you avoid having to do all-nighters and long full days of work near deadlines.

Hopefully these tips will help you manage your time properly and enable you to balance your workload and priorities!
