Hidden Gems 2018 and volunteering opportunities

By ResLifeAshleigh 16 Oct 2018

Manchester Student Homes (MSH) works to welcome and encourage students to play an active role in our local area. Our Hidden Gems project aims to educate and introduce all members of our community including students, long term residents and landlord volunteers to both new and unexplored places.

This tour will enhance your time as a student in Manchester through the discovery of exciting and different areas that you may not be aware of.

The event will take place on Thursday 25th October 2018 between 10am-4pm, with an hour for you to grab some lunch and take a break in the MSH office.

Please RSVP your attendance here before the event! Please note that tickets will NOT be required on the day.

We require a number of student volunteers who are friendly, engaging and have an interest in the community to help successfully execute these tours. You will work in pairs to guide groups of student-residents, community members and partners of Manchester Student Homes including Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council to lead groups to the Hidden Gems and to provide an overview and background of the site.

This is a great opportunity to expand your skill set and will be a welcomed addition to your CV or future job applications.

As a volunteer, you will also gain experience in the following areas:

  • Event management
  • Community initiatives
  • Leadership
  • Communication skills
  • Public Speaking
  • Working with partner organisations, such as Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council

If you would like further information or would like to volunteer for the event please contact:

A full induction will be given to volunteers ahead of the event including a tour guide booklet which will contain a short brief of each Hidden Gem. These briefs are then to be read to tour groups upon arrival at the sites.
