Accommodation

Going home for Summer?

By RAMariyam 24 Apr 2019

That time has finally come! The end of freedom before heading out into the real world. Here are just a few things to keep in mind before moving out of halls.

First thing's first make sure you know when your contract ends. You can find this in your emails or online depending on your accommodation type. Make sure you've given yourself plenty of time to pack and move out, don't leave it till the actual day, not a great idea, trust me.

Cleaning

Make sure you have cleaned your room, emptied all your drawers and cupboards. Don't forget under the bed storage areas and things stored above shelving, if you're lucky you might end up finding that sock which went missing back in September. This also applies to your en-suites or your shared bathrooms.

Make sure you have gotten rid of any out of date food from the fridge and cupboards. If you happen to suddenly find cans of beans and bags of pasta, don't bin it. Instead, donate these to the food banks which all go towards helping the homeless/ feeding people in need.

Donating other items

If you have other items you'd like to donate such as clothing items, sanitary products or un-opened cleaning products. DONATE! More information on where to donate and how to donate can be accessed via the student living reception.

Saying goodbye

I don't know about you, but personally, moving out is the hardest thing to do. My room has now become my new den, it's my working space, my sleeping space, my one person party place, well...you get it. To make your flat/room your home and then having to say goodbye to it can be difficult. But don't worry, you'll soon find a new home/room, for you to claim as your new den, for now we have to pack away our lives in little luggage bags and move on.

If you have any questions/queries regarding moving out feel free to drop in to reception or ask your RAs.
