Chinese New Year Dragon Parade

By BenResLife 03 Jan 2017

On 28th January the year the Monkey will come to an end and the year of the Rooster will begin. In central Manchester there will be four days of celebration.

The traditional Dragon parade - featuring a  175-foot dragon - has become as big an event in Manchester as it is in any global city. There will be additional lion dances, street markets, and stages for dancing, music, acrobatics and a funfair.

Timings for the day are:

12pm: Dragon arrives and musicians perform in Albert Square

1pm: The Dragon Parade leaves Albert Square

2pm-5pm: Stage shows and fun fair opens in Chinatown

6pm: Fireworks finale over Chinatown

When: 12pm-6pm, January 29
