A guide to the Manchester Christmas Markets

By RAchristie 14 Nov 2018

Christmas is just around the corner (41 days to be exact) and we are in full festive swing here in Manchester as the Manchester Christmas Markets are back for another year!

They are currently running until Sunday 23rd December and with more than 300 stalls this year and there is something for everyone. On the last day, you might want to pop down to see if you can get any last minute bargains!

Where to find them?
At this time of year, it's always best to follow the crowds as more often than not they will be heading to get a hot chocolate and some mini pancakes. However, if you're an early bird or new to Manchester then let me tell you the locations.

Christmas Market - Cathedral Gardens
Christmas Market - Market Street
Christmas Market - Exchange Square
Christmas Market - Corn Exchange
Arts and Crafts Market - Exchange Street
Christmas Market - New Cathedral Street
French Christmas Marke- King Street
German Christmas Market - St Ann's Square
World Christmas Market - Brazennose Street

It'll be the last time for at least four years that the main Christmas market will be in Albert Square as the public plaza is having an exciting revamp!

A new feature for this year's Christmas Markets is a magical Ice Village in Cathedral Gardens. Including an Ice Cavern experience with lots of ice sculptures, all set against a background of a frozen toy factory. If you're fab at ice skating there will also be an ice skating rink, a grotto and a Polar Bar where you can warm up with a hot chocolate.

Throughout December every time a friend suggests meeting up for food, I always like to go to the markets as there is so much to choose from! Whether you're into halloumi fries, cookie dough, traditional bratwurst or paella.. there is something for everyone and plenty of vegetarian options for you as well.

So grab your big coats and your Christmas cheer and get down to one of the many markets that Manchester has to offer!
