It is that dreadful time of the year when we no longer feel on top of the world; we have reached rock bottom, had too much of everything during the holidays and not much happiness is left on us.

We got our grades, and they were not as good as we hoped so, we went back home and where pampered by our parents like never before, we saw all our friends from high school, and now… we are back.

Get Active!

Take a look  at the FREE Activities that MMU provides! And follow this link to know more about their new Active Campus loyalty cards. Collect a stamp for every session you attend. 10 stamps = a free t-shirt! The activities include BOX FIT *gif, yoga football basketball, boxercise, fussball, swimming and more!

Stop Dwelling on the Past: Grades

Our grades were not the best of the best last term, but crying about it is not going to make them better… Now studying for upcoming exams and hand ins might! Talk to your tutor, see how you can do better.

Each Faculty has a  Student Support Officers  and is available throughout the year to provide advice and guidance on any aspect of University life, including:

  • And anything else you would like to talk about

Reminder: As a first year, focus on passing, first year grades don’t add to your final degree mark. This is the time for you to learn and make mistakes.

Spend Time with people

I know you have heard this over and over again, but JOIN A SOCIETY. It doesn’t matter if you miss refreshers (Which is on the 24th at the Union) You can log onto the the union website, check them out and sign up! https://www.theunionmmu.org/groups

If societies are not your thing… The union has events on EVERY SINGLE WEEK. There is always something you can do.

Talk To Us

If you want to talk about it, come to the RA drop-ins, which are available every day from 6pm to 7pm. 

If you want to see a counsellor, there are Open Door sessions between 1pm-2pm and be seen by a counsellor for 20 minutes. Please check here to find out where and when the services are available.

Personal tutors can also be a useful source of support.

The Counselling, Health and Wellbeing Service run a number of courses and workshops aimed at maintaining your wellbeing. There is no need to book, you can show up.  Find out more here
