Melville Grove - Vote for your HSC

By sophiebk 29 Oct 2018

The HSC is made up of other students living in your accommodation who volunteer their time to help make sure your voices are heard and you have the best possible experience in halls.

This Wednesday voting will open to all students to confirm your Melville Grove HSC for the year.

You will be asked vote on whether or not you are happy for the current committee to represent you. To help you do this the HSC have written a manifesto to outline details of what they plan to do to this year – from making changes in halls to exciting trips and events.

The link to vote will be sent to you on Wednesday - please take the time to read over their manifesto before then.

Melville HSC Manifesto

Our HSC of Melville is a group of students who are all studying different subjects from psychology to marketing, business, history and even clinical sciences. We all enjoy organising events and that is what brought us together. We hope to represent the students at Melville as much as possible but that won’t be possible without their contribution so we highly encourage everyone to like our page on Facebook: HSC Melville and DM us any ideas or areas of improvement you have.

What we have done so far to represent students:

  •  We have been meeting regularly to discuss issues at Melville such as the lack of social space
  •  We have organised entertainment for the formal so that it suits everyone
  •  We have been talking to our friends at Melville asking them about their interest in upcoming Halloween party
  • Our team is varied - we have international students as well as RA’s and people of different ages so we have a variety of interesting ideas.

What we plan to do this year

  •  Creating a platform on Facebook for feedback or tips
  •  Advertising the platform so people know about us
  •  We plan to get Melville hoodies to the shop at the Guild
  •  We plan to involve different societies in our events so that we invest in our students rather than people from outside

Events we have organised so far:

  •  We have organised the entertainment for the formal (the selfie mirror)
  •  We have organised the Halloween pre-party
  • We are in the middle of gathering our ideas for the Christmas party

What we plan to do this year

  • Christmas event with mulled wine and hot chocolate
  • To go paint balling as a stress relief after January exams
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • Possibly a water gun fight between two sides of the fence
  • A themed end of the year party – students yet to choose the theme (e.g. mascaraed, glitter party)
