International Men's Day at Greenbank Student Village

By hughero 06 Nov 2019

This year we are celebrating International Men's Day on Tuesday 19th November in Greenbank Student Village!

We will be running football and dodgeball tournaments between 5pm-7pm on the Greenbank Sports pitches. Play for your Halls, Roscoe and Gladstone or Derby and Rathbone. The sports are turn up and play, you will be sorted into teams once you arrive. If you live in R&G please wear red, and if you live in D&R please wear black. Please donate £1 on arrival to take part, all donations will go towards James' Place.

James' Place is a local charity in Liverpool that is here to support and listen to men who would like to talk and share how they are feeling, with people who understand and care, during their time of need. In the UK men are three times more likely to take their own life than women with suicide rates in men between ages 20-24 rising by 30% in 2018.

There will also be plenty to get involved with in Greenbank Reception where you can come down and take your mind off of the stresses of life. From 7pm we will have free pizza, drinks, pool and FIFA tournaments along with a movie in reception to help you chill out after a busy day of lectures.

If you need someone to talk to don't forget, Halls offers plenty of support for students living in Halls and so does the wider university. If you want to look elsewhere you can click here to find what support is available in your local area.
