Exploring Liverpool - Smithdown Road

By sophiebk 18 Jun 2020

Despite only being two miles long, Smithdown Road has long been the epicentre of student life here in Liverpool. Over the past couple of years the area has had a new lease of life with great independents opening up, as well as the start of events like the Smithdown Road Festival bringing live music right to your front door.

Here's our top ten spots to grab a bite in the area.

Spitroast – believe the hype, this chicken really is better than Nandos ... and the Roast is one of the best you'll get in the area! There’s some great veggie options like the Superfood Salad and Spring Greens, too.

Naked Lunch - owned by a collective of like-minded individuals Naked Lunch has a chilled atmosphere that’s great for brunch or just a coffee, you can often find live music there too.

Leaf – The Bold Street favourite has recently got a spot on Smithdown, up by Tribeca. Guaranteed chilled vibes, great food and cosy drinks to get you through what remains of winter.

Belzan – a key change that took Smithdown’s restaurants up a notch. Super stylish bar and bistro with an eclectic seasonal menu – one if you’re looking to impress, or just be impressed!

Tribeca – one of the biggest venues in the area with an amazing beer garden, seriously good pizzas and showing sport – what more could you want?

Tiger Rock – Asian street food paying homage to traditional street vendors with a super tasty menu - every single plate is insta-ready.

Evil Eye – a ‘beer and burrito shack’ with excellent live music on offer and a little sun trap of a garden in summer. The Halloumi Fries are particular favourites of ours!

Handyman Brewery – great food & drink aplenty in this converted handymans store. There is also regular live music nights and you can keep up to date with what's on by following them on twitter.

and of course... The Brookhouse

We're sure you don't need an introduction but no guide to Smithdown would be complete without this Student favourite ... from food to footy they've got you covered!
