International Students: Holidays in the UK

By BzBarlow 01 Nov 2018

One thing to bear in mind as we head into the winter months is that there will celebrations across the UK that will affect certain opening hours in shops and supermarkets as well as train and bus services.

It's worth making a note of the following dates so you can plan ahead should you need anything on these days. The key dates to remember are:

St Andrew's Day: 30th November
If the 30th falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the bank holiday will be moved to the following Monday.
Christmas Eve: 24th December
Most shops and supermarkets will run shorter opening and closing hours.
Christmas Day:  25th December
The vast majority of shops will be shut ALL DAY on this day
Boxing Day: 26th November
Limited opening and closing hours will operate.
New Years Eve: 31st December
Limited opening and closing hours will operate
New Years Day: 1st January
Limited opening and closing hours will operate

So, before you travel on any of these days, make sure to check that services are running and what opening hours are operating - it will save you a wasted trip!

However, this time of year is one of the BEST in the UK so make sure to join in the festivities, wrap up warm and enjoy the celebrations!
