Sport in Coventry

By BZashleigh 19 Nov 2017

We're a massive advocate of keeping fit and looking after yourself whilst studying here

What better way to keep your mind alert and well-motivated for study than a bit of sport or exercise?

On campus

Our Sport and Recreation Centre features sports halls, studios and a fitness suite. If you live in Singer Hall, Priory Hall, Quadrant Hall, The Cycle Works, Uni Houses, Liberty Point or Lynden House, you get a FREE gym membership!

This means you can use the gym facilities as well as having access to all of the fitness classes available. From Yoga and Boxercise to Extreme Cycle and Bootcamp, you're bound to find something you love!

Check out the timetable.

There is also a huge selection of sports and societies you can join here, at any time of the year. With everything from Ultimate Frisbee and Streetdance to Skydiving and Dodgeball, there's something for everyone! Why not check out the full list and give something a go?

In the city

If watching sport is more your thing, there's so much in the local area that you can enjoy.

Our local football team, Coventry City, plays at the Ricoh Arena along with Wasps, our Premiership rugby team. Coventry RFC, our National League One team, plays at the Butts Park Arena just a few minutes' walk away from town.

If you prefer the rink to the pitch, head to the Skydome Arena to support local Elite League ice hockey team, Coventry Blaze

Coventry and North Warwickshire Hockey Club fields four men's and two ladies' sides. Training and matches take place at Coventry University Sports Ground at Westwood Heath with new players and volunteers always welcome.

If you want to head further afield

Warwickshire County Cricket Club's home ground is in Edgbaston which is less than an hour from campus or you could catch Birmingham City F.C. at St. Andrew's stadium.

Good luck and enjoy!
