Celebrate Lent a little differently this year...

By bzbeth 14 Feb 2018

Does the thought of giving up something that brings you joy but also isn't very good for you, not very appealing?

Then, do something a little different to what you've done before and see seek some inspiration from around the world...

Get into the spirit of Lent and try some of these for 40 days:

  1. Germany

This is a serious life hack! You might have made the decision to give up bread (good luck) which means no more toasties or wraps. But luckily for you, God gave you a loophole. Germany see the Pretzel is seen as a holy bread so, time to worship it!
  2. Greece

In Greece, they encourage you to eat buns, cookies and cakes in Lent, as long as they don't include butter. The Monday before Ash Wednesday, traditionally people go to the beach or countryside with their mates for a picnic - beats being sat in the library all day, right?
  3. Malta

In Malta, Lent is all about drumming! If you are one of those people that love music, then head to Malta on “Drums Wednesday” and help locals recreate the sound of thunder.
  4. India

In Kerala, Lent means Raasa which translate to party time! The day before Ash Wednesday, the streets turn into a huge carnival of dancing, music and fireworks to celebrate. Now THAT is a Lent tradition we'd like to get on board with!

If giving up like chocolate or social media isn't what you fancy doing, adopt something new into your life instead!
